The Department of Gastroenterology has a strong commitment to education and demonstrates a strong history of excellence and fostering knowledge through our advanced gastroenterology training programs and research fellowships.
In addition to our clinical advanced training program and research fellowships, the Department of Gastroenterology holds numerous education sessions, journal clubs, grand rounds, gastrointestinal combined conferences, special interest group meetings, and national symposia in all the major disciplines of gastroenterology. Gastroenterology Research Fellowships
The Department of Gastroenterology has a strong focus on clinical and translational research that significantly contributes to our current understanding of disease biology and improves patient care. We have shown a strong track record in our research programs with a large number of successful higher degree students, widespread publications in high impact journals and successful competitive grant funding.
All gastroenterology fellowship positions in the Gastroenterology Department are higher degree research fellowships. Our research gastroenterology fellows also have the opportunity to be involved with the clinical activities within the department, including:
- Participation in unit meetings, including multidisciplinary meetings and complex case conference meetings, journal club presentations, presentations and discussion at the gastrointestinal combined case conference meeting, participation in audits, attendance at grand rounds
- Attending outpatient specialist clinics in their field of interest
- Continuing endoscopy exposure and training
