Gastroenterology Advanced Training Program
The Department of Gastroenterology has three RACP accredited advanced training positions in gastroenterology; a 1st core training position and two 2nd core training positions. Supervised clinical duties- Managing busy inpatient unit across all gastroenterology disciplines
- Consultation service for referrals from other units within the hospital
- Outpatient management rotating through all the major specialist clinics in the Department of Gastroenterology at St Vincent’s Hospital, including liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, functional gut disorders, clinical nutrition
- General endoscopy training with CONJOINT accredited gastroenterologists
- Managing clinical nutrition and TPN referrals
- Training in manometry and interpretation of findings
- Formal teaching programs covering all of the major disciplines in gastroenterology
- Participation in unit meetings, including multidisciplinary meetings and complex case conference meetings, journal club presentations, presentations and discussion at the gastrointestinal combined case conference meeting, participation in audits, attendance at grand rounds
- All accredited trainees will also participate in a research project and have the opportunity to be involved in clinical trials and other research projects
